Giraffes are the tallest land mammals, with males reaching 5.5 meters and females around 4.3–4.8 meters. Even newborn baby giraffes are already 1.8 meters tall. Giraffes can survive without drinking water for several days, because they get fluids from the leaves they eat and rarely sweat. Usually adult giraffes drink only once a day or even less often. Giraffes are social animals who like to be in groups and can change friends every day [2].
Giraffes only sleep for about 10 minutes to 4.5 hours per day, usually while standing. They only sleep soundly for about 30 minutes. The giraffe’s tongue is dark blue, purple or black, and can reach a length of 45–53 cm. This dark color protects tongues from sunburn as they reach for leaves on tall trees
