Neither gender is always more cuddly. A guinea pig’s personality matters more than whether it is male or female.
Male guinea pigs, called boars, are sometimes described as more relaxed once they trust people. Female guinea pigs, called sows, can be just as gentle and friendly. There is no reliable rule that says boys cuddle more or girls cuddle more.
The biggest difference usually comes from handling, age, confidence, and past experience. Guinea pigs are prey animals, so many do not like being picked up at first. They may run, freeze, or hide, even if they are not aggressive. A calm guinea pig that has been handled gently is more likely to enjoy sitting with a person.
The best way to make a guinea pig more cuddly is to build trust slowly. Speak softly, offer food from your hand, and do not grab from above. Short, calm handling sessions work better than forcing long cuddles.
Guinea pigs should also live with another guinea pig, not alone. A guinea pig that feels safe with a companion may also be calmer around people.
So the simple answer is: choose personality over gender. A confident, gently handled guinea pig is more likely to be cuddly than one chosen only because it is male or female.
